As a senior at Butler High School, Oswald helped his high school team advance to the semifinals for the AAAA WPIAL title...batted .372 for the season...played the entire season at shortstop...was chosen by the Western Pennsylvania Coaches Association as an infielder on the 2009 WPIAL AAAA All-Star team...Oswald also played East Butler American Legion where he batted .553 with 20 stolen bases...in that season Oswald contributed to the team winning the district title and advancing to the semifinals at regionals...also chosen to play shortstop for the Pennsylvania American Legion All-West All-Star Game.
