Nate started a team-leading 13 games on the mound for the Panthers in 2008... led the team in wins with five...chalked up a team-leading 89.2 innings of work...also led the team in strikeouts with 70...held opponents to a .265 batting average over the course of the season...pitched two complete games on the year...allowed only two runs on seven hits during a 7-2 complete-game victory over Louisville on March 28...second complete game of the season came against Georgetown on April 25 when he gave up just three hits and struck out a career-tying nine batters for the 9-2 win.

Nate Reed served as the Panthers' Sunday pitcher as a true freshman in 2007...was one of two first-year players to see time on the mound for Pitt...made 13 starts in 13 appearances, while earning a 4.17 ERA and going 4-5...threw 82.0 innings, while striking out 60 batters, 19 of which went down looking...went 3-3 in eight appearances vs. Big East teams...made career debut vs. Old Dominion on February 18...gave up four earned runs off three hits, while striking out four...picked up first career win in a 9-1 victory over Sacred Heart on March 12, while allowing a career-low one run and zero earned runs...pitched 6.0 innings and surrendered just one unearned run, while striking out five...earned first Big East win on March 25 in a close 3-2 victory in game two of a doubleheader with Cincinnati...threw 4.1 innings, striking out three and allowing just two earned runs...retired a career-high nine Louisville batters, while allowing just five hits and two earned runs in a complete-game, 6-2 victory on April 7...helped the Panthers edge out Villanova 6-5 on April 22 providing 6.2 quality innings in which he struck out four Wildcats and allowed just two runs...struck out five Georgetown batters in 6.2 innings of work allowing a single earned run off six hits...pitched 7.0 innings against Rutgers on May 13 in a 10-inning, 10-9 victory for the Panthers, giving up four runs off five hits, while striking out four...gave up a team-low 19 extra-base hits.

Reed posted 104 strikeouts in just 50 innings of play for the Oley Valley baseball team under head coach Lee Hirneisen...gathered All-Berks County honors twice...was a member of the Berkshire Red Sox summer team...also participated in basketball...was named Male Athlete of the Year as a senior.
