Junior (2001): Stuart Rykaceski redshirted last year due to injury. Sophomore (2000): Rykaceski broke out offensively and defensively as Pittsburgh's lead-off hitter while playing center field...was the only player to play and start in every game...finished third on the team in batting average with a .330 clip...batted .356 in conference matchups, second-best on the team...recorded career highs in every offensive category while leading the team in hits (71), at-bats (215), sacrifice hits (8) and stolen bases (15)...was second on the team in runs (49) and walks (27), and third in doubles (10)...hit his first career home run at West Virginia (April 10)...tied his career high with four RBIs in a 3-for-4 effort at Seton Hall (April 22)...recorded at least one hit in 40-of-54 games, including 19 multiple-hit games, the second-best production on the team...did not go longer than two games without a hit throughout the entire season...strung together hitting streaks of seven and eight games...earned spots on the school's single-season top 10 list for at-bats (second), hits (third-tied) and runs (fourth-tied)...stole 15 bases after stealing just two in 1999...led the team in sacrifice bunts (8), the most by a Panther since before 1990...hit 9-for-12 with six runs and two RBIs in a three-game series versus Connecticut (April 15-16)...was a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs versus Youngstown State (May 4)...was 4-for-8 with two runs and an RBIs in a 22-18 victory at Notre Dame (May 7), tying the Big East single-game record for at-bats and becoming the only player to do so in nine innings.
