Shane Liska is entering his second season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Pitt baseball program after joining the team in summer 2013.
Liska arrivedat Pitt after working as a volunteer assistant coach at Creighton in 2013. While with the Jays, Liska helped CU to a 30-18 record, including a 13-8 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Under Liska's tutelage, four Jays earned MVC honors including sophomore Jake Peter who was invited to participate in a Team USA training camp, named an ABCA Second Team All-Region performer and was a finalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award.
Prior to his time as the volunteer assistant at Creighton, Liska appeared in 20 games including eight starts, on the mound for the Jays in 2012 as a graduate transfer. He closed the season with a 3-4 record, including an impressive 3.27 ERA in 55.0 innings. Liska held opponents to just a .214 batting average, recording 54 strikeouts. Two of his three victories on the season came at critical times as Liska notched wins in the MVC Tournament (11-5 vs. Illinois State) and the NCAA Tournament (8-2 vs. San Diego).
Before coming to Creighton, Liska earned his undergraduate degree at Xavier (2008-11). In his three seasons on the field with the Musketeers, Liska made a combined 33 appearances, tossing 40.0 innings.
