Age Requirements The DIAMOND BASEBALL CLINICS are open to ages 7 & up, unless otherwise noted. All players will be coached by age and players will be grouped by age for all sessions. Location The DIAMOND BASEBALL CLINICS will be held at the main campus of the University of Pittsburgh in Oakland. The Winter Clinics will be conducted in the Cost Sports Center, which is an outstanding indoor astroturf facility. The Summer Clinics will be held at Trees Field, located directly behind the Cost Sports Center. Staff The clinics, featuring instructors from six professional organizations - Dave Wallace and Guy Conti of the New York Mets; Chris Snusz of the Montreal Expos; Anthony Dougherty of the Boston Red Sox; and David Lee and Ed Santa of the Colorado Rockies - are primarily taught by Pittsburgh Head Coach Joe Jordano and assistant coaches Joel Dombkowski and Rich Pasquale, as well as members of the Pittsburgh Panthers Baseball team. Parents You are welcome to attend all sessions. The mezzanine around the top of the Cost Sports Center is a great place to watch the players in action. In addition, our summer clinics are open to parents as well. Parking Parking is available in the OC Lot located next to the Cost Sports Center. There may be a charge for parking in the OC Lot. We do recommend car-pooling if possible. During basketball games, there is not parking in the OC Lot. Where do I go for the Clinics? All campers will meet inside the Cost Sports Center approximately 30 minutes prior to the start time. This will give us more time to adequately register all participants. After the first day, all players can arrive just before the start of camp. All players can be dropped off and picked up at this location. Directions to the clinics will be provided with your confirmation letter. What do I bring? All players should wear comfortable clothes for a baseball workout. The temperature in the Cost Sports Center is regulated at about 65 degrees. You should bring you glove and sneakers - NO METAL SPIKES ARE PERMITTED IN THE FACILITY. You may also bring your own bat or catcher's gear is appropriate. For our summer clinics, shorts and t-shirts are appropriate. Clinic Descriptions All Skills Clinic This clinic covers all aspects of the game of baseball. From the basic fundamentals to advanced techniques, our staff will instruct you on becoming a complete player. This is a great clinic for all players. Four-day and two-day All Skills Clinics are offered. Offense/Defense Clinics This clinic is designed to provide specific instruction on YOUR DEFENSIVE POSITION and to provide offense as well. This two-day clinic is great to get ready for your season. Pitching/Catching Clinics These clinics are dedicated to the baseball battery -- the Pitchers and Catchers. Pitchers and catchers will learn the full realm of their position. Pitchers will work extensively on all aspects of pitching while the catchers will work on all of the responsibilities of a catcher. Super clinic to refresh or introduce solid catching and pitching theories. These clinics are great for both beginners and experienced players. Offensive Clinic This clinic is open for all ages and is designed to improve the player's overall offensive game. Special emphasis will be on hitting, bunting and base running. Youth Summer Clinic This clinic is offered for players from age 6 to 12. It is an all-skills camp that extensively covers all fundamentals. Additional attractions include swimming that is offered at the end of the morning fundamental period and baseball games in the afternoon. This is a great experience for our younger players. College-Bound Clinic This is designed specifically for high school players. You will be instructed on all aspects of the game and be given and evaluation form for you personal use. All baseball "times" will be recorded on evaluation forms such as pitcher's velocity, 60-yard times, bat speed velocity and others. Great way to see where you stack up. If you want to go to college and play baseball - you need to be in this clinic. Hitting Clinics This clinic is designed to take swings. Our staff will break down the swing and the players will take a ton of swings on this day. If you like to swing the bat - this clinic is for you. Individual Instruction The Pittsburgh Baseball coaching staff is available for individual instruction. This is a great way to get personalized one-on-one instruction at you convenience.
