PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh baseball team’s weekend series at St. John’s will be steamed live to a national audience on ESPN3, the ESPN family of networks announced. The series, which runs March 22-24 at Jack Kaiser Stadium, marks the start of the Panthers’ final season in the Big East Conference.
"The opportunity to be on ESPN3 for the entire St. John’s series is great exposure for our team,” said head coach Joe Jordano. “We look forward to more of these opportunities in the future, including our game with Louisville on May 18 on ESPNU.”
The series opener on Friday, March 22, is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start. The Saturday contest will begin at 1 p.m. and first pitch for the series finale is slated for noon.
Pitt opens play on Friday, Feb. 15, when it travels to Wichita, Kan., to meet up with perennial MVC power Wichita State in a three game series.
The Panthers, who begin their third season at the state-of-the-art Cost Field at the Petersen Sports Complex this spring, are one of three teams to advance to the past four Big East Championships. Since 2000, the Panthers have been one of the premier programs in the Northeast winning over 400 games and producing 12 All-Americans, 50 All-Big East honorees and seeing 51 players sign professional contracts.
