PITTSBURGH -
Pitt at Wofford complete game notes
The Pitt baseball team opens the 2010 season Friday afternoon in a three-game series at Wofford. Games are set for Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday, at 1 p.m. at Russell C. King Field in Spartanburg, S.C.
The series will mark the first games between the two schools in their history. Wofford also opens up Friday and will look for their first winning season since 1991.
Pitt hopes to earn its first season-opener since the 2005 season when the Panthers defeated Rider, 9-6, at the IMIChotels.com Inn-vitational Tournament in Conway, S.C. Last season’s opener resulted in a heartbreaking 9-8 loss in 10 innings to Bradley on the road.
Head coach Joe Jordano is in his 13th season at the helm, leading the Panthers to 328 wins during that time. The Pitt skipper has tallied 611 wins in his decorated career.
Junior pitcher Corey Baker will get the start for the Panthers on Friday. Last season, Baker totaled a 5.91 earned run average in 80.2 innings pitched.
