PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh outfielder Boo Vazquez (SO/Youngstown, Ohio) has been named to the Big East Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Vazquez takes home his first career Big East honor after a solid weekend where he went 6-for-12 with seven RBI as Pitt went 4-0 in the Panther Classic I. Highlighting the weekend for Vazquez was a clutch, pinch-hit, bases clearing triple in the bottom of the eighth in Pitt’s come from behind victory over Manhattan on Saturday.
The sophomore becomes the second Panther to take home Big East honors on the season joining Casey Roche (JR/Downingtown, Pa.) who was named Big East Player of the Week on Feb. 18.
Vazquez and the Panthers return to action on Tuesday, March 11, when they welcome long-time rival West Virginia to Charles L. Cost Field at the Petersen Sports Complex for a midweek showdown.
