Pitt vs. Youngstown State game notes

PITTSBURGH—Pitt’s baseball game scheduled for Tuesday, March 16, against Youngstown State has been moved to Wednesday, March 17. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m., as the Panthers host the Penguins in their first home game of the season at Trees Field.

Last season, Pitt won a pair of games against Youngstown State. First, the Panthers went to Niles, Ohio and earned a 7-6 victory after holding off a late rally from the Penguins. Then, Pitt battled back from a 4-0 deficit to record a 7-4 win at home eight days later.

Pitt is coming off a three-game sweep of Fordham at the Palm Beach Classic. The Panthers out-scored the Rams 33-4 for three commanding wins of 10-3, 13-0 and 10-1. Danny Lopez (Queens, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) paced the team with six runs batted in, and six runs scored on the weekend. On the year, Lopez has scored a team-leading 26 runs.

The Panthers are 10-4, while Youngstown State enters the game at 6-5.
