Pittsburgh Baseball Adds Additional Clinic to Camp Program 4/15/1998
PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh baseball coaching staff will conduct a catchers clinic sponsored by the Diamond Baseball Camps and Clinics at the Charles Cost Center on the University of Pittsburgh's Oakland campus Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The clinic, which will cover all aspects of catching, is open to players ages 10-18 and costs $45.
In addition, the Diamond Baseball Camps and Clinics is enrolling players for its two summer sessions June 22- 26 and July 13-17. The two summer camps, which cost $105, are held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trees Field on the University of Pittsburgh's Oakland campus and are open to players ages 8-17 and 6-12, respectively.
The camps, featuring instructors from six professional organizations highlighted by Guy Conti, Los Angeles Dodgers pitching coordinator, Dave Wallace, assistant general manager of the New York Mets and former Los Angeles Dodgers pitching coach, Tony Dougherty, Cleveland Indians pitcher, and Chris Snusz, Philadelphia Phillies catcher, will primary be taught by Pittsburgh Head Coach Joe Jordano and assistant coaches Joel Dombkowski and Lou Schaper.
"The Diamond Baseball Camps and Clinics are simply a great opportunity for youths to be exposed to great baseball instruction by professional as well as collegiate instructors in outstanding Division I facilities while having a great time," Jordano said. "No other organization in the area can boast this combination."
Individualized instruction is available to players who have not yet entered ninth grade, and team and group rates are available. Interested people should contact the baseball office at (412) 648-8238 to register.
