PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh head baseball coach Joe Jordano has been named the Division I East Region Chair of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the organization announced today.
Jordano, who will also serve on the College Playing Rules Committee, is one of eight head coaches to represent the eight regions of the ABCA.
In his illustrious career, Jordano has won 752 total games including a school-record 467 at Pitt. During his tenure with the Panthers, Jordano has coached 11 All-Americans, 15 All-Region selections and 49 All-Conference honorees.
Additionally, Jordano has been named the Big East Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2004 and was the Chuck Tanner Collegiate Manager of the Year in 2010. Jordano’s athletes have also excelled in the classroom as over 94 percent of the student-athletes Jordano has coached have gone on to earn their degrees from the University of Pittsburgh.
Jordano and the Panthers are coming off a 2013 campaign where the team won a school-best 42 games and saw a program-record eight players earn All-Conference accolades.
