PITTSBURGH – Eight members of the University of Pittsburgh baseball team are spending their off-seasons competing in some of the most well-known summer baseball leagues in the nation.


Boo Vazquez (SO/Youngstown, Ohio) is competing for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Joe Harvey (SO/Audobon, Pa.) is also in the Cape competing for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. Rounding out the Panthers in the Cape is Jon Danielczyk (JR/Erie, Pa.) who competes for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.    


Pete Macke (Omaha, Neb.) and Luke Curtis (JR/Philipsburg, Pa.) are competing for the Baltimore Redbirds in the Cal Ripken Sr. League.


Representing the Panthers in the Prospect League are Eric Hess (SO/Erie, Pa.), for the Butler Blue Sox, and Casey Roche (JR/Downingtown, Pa.) with the Slippery Rock Sliders.


Rounding out the Pitt contingent in summer ball is Billy Lipari (FR/Omaha, Neb.) who is competing with the Lake Erie Monarchs in the Great Lakes League. will be providing updates on the Panthers in summer ball throughout the summer.
