GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Pittsburgh recent graduate Jon Danielczyk has become Pitt’s first-ever selection to the All-ACC Academic Baseball Team, as announced by league officials on Thursday morning.
The Erie, Pa., native completed his undergraduate coursework in the spring of 2014, earning a dual-major degree in marketing and legal studies with a cumulative 3.21 GPA. He now intends to enroll in graduate school to further advance his education. Combined with the Big East Academic All-Star honors Danielczyk received in 2012-13, this marks his third consecutive year of scholastic recognition. He was also honored at the university’s annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Breakfast in February.
Danielczyk posted a 2.61 ERA in a school-record 29 appearances in 2014. The senior sidewinder struck out 45 batters while walking only nine in 51.2 innings of relief. He finished the campaign with a perfect 4-0 record.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.
