SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. – University of Pittsburgh rising junior outfielder Boo Vazquez (JR/Youngstown, Ohio) has been named a starter in the 2013 Cape League All-Star game, the league announced today.
Vazquez, who is currently competing for the Brewster Whitecaps, will start for the East Division in the game which will be contested on Saturday, July 27, at Red Wilson Field in Yarmouth, Mass. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on Fox College Sports.
This season with the Whitecaps, Vazquez is hitting .328 with five doubles and nine runs scored through 25 games. In his career with the Panthers, Vazquez, a second-team All-Big East honoree in 2013, has batted .331 with three homers and 49 RBI in 99 games played.
