Redshirt Freshman Season Jaron Brown provided solid backup at point guard as a redshirt freshman...played in all 33 contests and earned starts in six games, including the regular season-finale against Virginia Tech...played at an extremely high level in the Big East Championship to help lead the Panthers to the finals...posted a career-high 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting to help the Panthers top Notre Dame (3/8)...was key in the victory over Miami (3/7) as well with six assists...had one of his best games of the year in the win over St. Bonaventure in the first round of the NIT...dropped in 10 points to go along with a career-high eight rebounds and eight assists...had another solid game versus Mississippi State when he added 11 points... averaged 4.8 points and 1.5 assists per game on the year...also averaged 2.4 rebounds...his first career start came Dec. 9 versus St. Francis (N.Y.)...had a career-high seven assists in the game to go along with seven points, two steals and two rebounds in a season-high 32 minutes of 21 minutes of play at Notre Dame (1/16) had 12 points which included two 3-pointers...sparked the rout of Virginia Tech with 12 points in 23 minutes of play...came off the bench at Syracuse (2/27) and ignited an 18-3 Panther run...finished the game with 11 points...added five rebounds to his effort...also provided a spark off the bench at Seton Hall (2/15) in the second half...had eight points and four rebounds in the win...hit four of his five attempts from the field in the season-opener with North Carolina A&T State (11/17) and added a free throw for nine points...grabbed a career-high six rebounds and two blocks in just 13 minutes of play in the win over West Virginia (1/31)...had four assists and five points versus Robert Morris.

Prior to Pittsburgh Attended Maine Central Institute in 1998-99...helped MCI to a 34-4 record and the New England Prep Tournament championship...named New England Prep Tournament MVP...averaged 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals per contest at MCI under Head Coach Max Good...considered one of the top players in the state of Kentucky both his junior and senior seasons at Lexington's Bryan Station...a McDonald's honorable mention All-American...selected first team all-state by both the Lexington Herald-Leader and Louisville Courier Journal...two-time member of the Kentucky All-Stars, a team which annually plays Indiana's top high school prospects...averaged 23.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.6 steals per game as a senior...averaged 19 points per contest as a junior...coached by Bobby Washington.
