PITT-VILLANOVA POST-GAME NOTES
*The game was Pitt's first Big East Conference contest of the season. For the first time since the 1995-96 season, Pitt opens Big East play on the road in consecutive games: at Villanova (Jan. 6) and at
*Jamie Dixon dropped to 117-32 overall and 45-20 in Big East play in his five-year head coaching career. Amazingly,
*No. 13 ranked Pitt dropped its second game of the season and fell to 12-2 overall and 0-1 in Big East play.
*Freshman DeJuan Blair notched his sixth career double-double with 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds in a career-high 37 minutes played. It also marked his seventh double figure scoring game and his sixth double figure rebounding game of the year.
*With his 16 points today, Sam Young reached double figure scoring for the 14th time this season and 42nd time in his career. He has now notched double figure scoring games in 22 of his last 25 games played.
*With his 15 points, Keith Benjamin reached double figure scoring for the second consecutive game. Over the last two games and two consecutive starts, Benjamin has scored 35 points (17.0 ppg.) while converting 13-18 of his field goal attempts. He has also hit 5-9 of his 3-point attempts. The 15 points marked his 11th career double figure scoring game.
*With his 10 points, Gilbert Brown reached double figure scoring for the second consecutive game and fourth time in his career. He made his third consecutive start for Pitt and played in a career-high 33 minutes. Brown also blocked a career-high three shots on the day.
*Pitt committed 22 turnovers on the day. That number marks the fourth highest turnover total of the Jamie Dixon Era (2003-current). Pitt committed 25 turnovers vs. Howard (Nov. 20, 2004), 24 vs. Seton Hall (Feb. 9, 2004) and 23 at
