GAME NOTES

                 

*At 14-0, Pitt remains one of only three nationally undefeated teams. The other two undefeated teams are Duke (16-0) and Florida (16-0). Head Coach Jamie Dixon has guided the Panthers to two 14-0 starts in three seasons as head coach.

 

*Pitt won its fifth consecutive road game dating back to a 72-50 win at Boston College on Feb. 28, 2005.

 

*Pitt begins Big East play at 3-0 for the fourth time in the last five years.

 


 

 

*Pitt's 14-0 start ranks as the fourth best start in school history. Pitt went 21-0 in 1927-28, 18-0 in 2003-04 and 15-0 in 1915-16.

 

*Pitt's 14-game win streak ranks as the sixth longest in school history.

 

*Pitt earned a win over its highest ranked opponent (No. 10 Louisville) since it defeated No. 5 Boston College on Feb. 28, 2005. Pitt is now 2-0 on the season against nationally ranked opponents. It defeated No. 24 Wisconsin earlier this year.

 

*Aaron Gray registered his Big East leading ninth double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. It was Gray's third straight double-double in Big East play. He has now registered two three-game double-double streaks on the season.

 

*Levance Fields scored a career-high 13 points. He also surpassed career-highs for field goals made (5), field goal attempts (8), minutes played (29), 3-point field goals made (3) and 3-point field goal attempts (6). In the week's two contests, Fields averaged 11.5 points and shot .667 (8-12) from the floor. He also reached double figures in Thursday's DePaul victory.

 

*Carl Krauser's streak of 10 straight double figure scoring games came to an end.

 

*Sam Young's streak of four straight double figure scoring games came to an end.

 

*Pitt won its first-ever contest and evened the series against Louisville. The previous matchup was in 1947-48, a 64-42 win for Louisville.

 

*Pitt held its 12th opponent to 60 points or less.
