*Pitt won its seventh consecutive game and improved to 17-1 overall and 5-0 in the Big East after defeating Seton Hall.

 

*Pitt is now off to a 5-0 start in Big East regular season play for the fourth time in school history. A 5-0 star to the Big East regular season has been achieved in 2002-03, 2006-07, 2009-10 and now 2010-11. Pitt has never started a league regular season with a 6-0 record. It hosts No. 4 ranked Syracuse on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

 

*Pitt has now won eight consecutive Big East regular season games dating back to last season. That streak ties for the third longest all-time Big East regular season win streak in school history. The record is 12 consecutive wins from Feb. 2, 2002-Jan. 25, 2003.


*Now in its ninth season in the Petersen Events Center, Pitt improved to 144-11. The Panthers have a 60-10 record against Big East opponents in the Petersen Events Center and are riding a 19-game home win streak.

*Pitt has won 50 of its last 51 home games, which is good for a 98.0 percent home winning percentage during that stretch.

 

*Pitt defeated Seton Hall by 21 points. Pitt has now won 62 of its 144 games at the Petersen Events Center by 20 or more points.

 

*Pitt finished the day with 23 offensive rebounds, its third largest total of the year. Pitt has now grabbed 10 or more offensive rebounds in 17 of 18 games this season. Pitt outrebounded Seton Hall by 24 rebounds (51-27). The Panthers entered the game leading the nation in rebound margin.

 

*Pitt’s 72 field goal attempts marked its second largest shooting output of the year. Pitt shot the ball 74 times vs. Maryland Eastern Shore on Dec. 18, 2010.

*Gary McGhee totaled his eighth career and fifth double-double of the year with 13 points and 10 rebounds. His 13 points tied a career-high for scoring and represented his 15th career double figure scoring game. McGhee has totaled 10 or more rebounds 15 times in his career. McGhee has now reached double figure scoring in four of his last five games. Through those five games against Big East opponents, McGhee is averaging 11.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

 

*With 10 points on the evening, Talib Zanna registered his third career double figure scoring game.

 

*Ashton Gibbs is fast approaching 1,000 career points. He now has 977 career points.

*Brad Wanamaker totaled nine points, seven rebounds and seven assists on the evening. Wanamaker now has 921 career points.
