*Pitt defeated Louisville for the first time in the Petersen Events Center and has now won eight straight games. The Panthers have won 11 of their last 12 games and are in the midst of one of their most difficult schedule stretches in years.
*With the win, Pitt improved to a perfect 5-0 in Big East contests this season, which ties the program record for the best start in Big East play. Pitt was also 5-0 in conference play in both 2002-03 and 2006-07.
*Pitt improved to 125-10 in games played at the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers are also 51-9 vs. Big East opponents in the arena. Pitt is now 10-0 this season at home.
*Pitt has won 31 straight home games, a steak which ranks as the nation’s second-longest current win streak. Kansas entered the day with 51 straight and plays Texas Tech this afternoon at home. Pitt’s school record is 40 straight home victories set from January 22, 2001-February 15, 2004. Pitt’s school record for most consecutive victories in the Petersen Events Center is 34 set from November 23, 2002-February 29, 2004.
*The Panthers improved to 2-0 in overtime games this season. Pitt also defeated rival Duquesne in the City Game on December 2 at Mellon Arena in two overtimes. It was the second overtime game against UL in series history. Pitt and Louisville also played an overtime game on March 13, 2008, a 76-69 Pitt win in the Big East Championship.
*Pitt knocked down 24-30 (80%) of its free throws attempted. Pitt is a combined 41-50 (82%) shooting free throws in the last two games and is 87-113 (77%) in the last four contests combined.
*The Panthers outrebounded Louisville 40-26 and had 13 more free throws attempted. Pitt is now 14-0 when attempting more free throws than its opposition.
*Pitt improved to 5-4 all-time vs. Louisville and 1-2 vs. Louisville in games played at the Petersen Events Center. Upon entering the game, Louisville was the only program to defeat Pitt two times at the Petersen Events Center.
*Sophomore forward Nasir Robinson led all scorers and finished with a career-high 26 points on career-highs of 11-14 shooting and a career-high 42 minutes. He also had a career-high 11 rebounds, giving him his second-ever double-double. He has now reached double figure scoring six times and double figure rebounding three times in his career. His 26 points marked the highest scoring game for a Pitt player this season.
*Junior guard Brad Wanamaker finished the game with a career-high tying 20 points. His stat line was 20 points, six rebounds and seven assists in 37 minutes. He also made a career-high 11 free throws on 12 attempts. As Pitt trailed by two, Wanamaker was fouled and made two free throws with just one second remaining to tie the game and force overtime. He hit a 3-pointer on the previous play to pull Pitt to within two points. He notched his second career 20-point game, 17th career 10-point game.
*With his 15 points, Ashton Gibbs reached double figure scoring 23rd time in his career. He played a career-high 44 minutes.
*It was the second time this season that two Pitt players scored 20 or more points in the same game (Robinson, 26 and Wanamaker, 20). Jermaine Dixon and Ashton Gibbs each hit 20-plus points in a win at Syracuse.
*Pitt wore gold uniforms for the first time this season. Pitt improved to 3-0 when wearing gold uniforms.
