PITT-CINCINNATI POST-GAME NOTES
*Pitt dropped to 15-3 overall and 3-2 in Big East Conference play.
*The game was Pitt's third Big East Conference road contest of the season. Pitt dropped to 1-2 on the year in Big East road games and to 3-3 on the road this season. In his five seasons as head coach, Jamie Dixon has accumulated a 21-14 road record in Big East Conference regular season play (1-2 in 2007-08, 6-2 in 2006-07, 3-5 in 2005-06, 5-3 in 2004-05 and 6-2 in 2003-04). Since Dixon became head coach in 2003-04, Pitt has never lost a Big East regular season road game by more than eight points. His 14 losses have come by an average of 3.9 points per loss (55 points/14 losses). Pitt dropped to 11-6 over the last two seasons on the road.
*With his team-high 24 points this evening, Sam Young scored over 20 points for the seventh time this season and ninth time in his career. He reached double figure scoring for the 17th time in 18 games this season and 45th time in his career. He has now notched double figure scoring games in 25 of his last 29 games played. Young set or tied career-highs for field goal attempts (20), minutes played (38). He also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds (five offensive).
*With his 11 points on the day, Keith Benjamin reached double figure scoring for the eighth time this year and 15th time in his career. He has reached double figure scoring in each of the last six games. Benjamin took a career-high nine 3-point field goal attempts and hit three. In Pitt's last six games, Benjamin is averaging 16.0 points (96 points), 34.3 minutes per game and is shooting 56.9 percent (33-58) from the floor and 47.1 percent (16-34) from 3-point range).
*The loss dropped Jamie Dixon to 120-33 overall as head coach. Amazingly, 17 of Dixon's 33 career losses are by four points or less. Dixon dropped to 48-21 in Big East regular season games. The loss represented Pitt's third of the season. Pitt has lost two of its three games by three points or less (Cincinnati, 62-59, Villanova, 64-63).
*Ronald Ramon finished the day with eight assists and two turnovers. Since Levance Fields and Mike Cook were sidelined with injuries, Ramon has registered 40 assists and 13 turnovers, an outstanding 3.07 assist:turnover ratio.
*Pitt dropped to 4-2 since losing Levance Fields and Mike Cook to injuries. In those six games, Pitt has averaged 75.0 points, shot 49.5 percent (165-33) from the floor and 44.3 percent (43-97) from 3-point range.
*Pitt dropped to 11-5 vs. Big East Conference schools added in 2005-06: Cincinnati 2-1, DePaul 2-0, Louisville 3-1, Marquette 2-3 and South Florida 2-0.
*Pitt dropped to 3-7 in its 10-game all-time series against Cincinnati. The loss snapped Pitt's two-game win streak in the series. Pitt also dropped to 1-5 in games hosted by Cincinnati.
*Cincinnati outrebounded Pitt 32-31. Pitt fell to 1-2 when outrebounded by an opponent.
*Pitt yielded 62 points to Cincinnati on the day. It has limited 15 of its 18 opponents to 70 points or less. Furthermore, since Jamie Dixon became head coach Pitt has held 127 of its 153 opponents under 70 points. Additionally, it has held 56 of its last 69 Big East opponents under 70 points.
