*Pitt improved to 20-2 overall. Pitt has won 20 or more games for the eighth straight season. Pitt is the only Big East school to win 20 overall games and 10-plus league games in each of the last seven seasons. It marks Pitt’s 16th all-time 20-win season.
*Today’s victory gave Pitt a perfect 13-0 non-conference record on the year. It would mark just the third time in school history that Pitt completed its non-conference schedule undefeated. Pitt was also 14-0 in 2003-04 and 11-0 in 2005-06.
*Pitt entered the game ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press poll top-25 and No. 5 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches’ poll top-25.
*Pitt has won 16 straight home games and carries a 110-10 all-time record (.917 winning percentage) in the Petersen Events Center. Pitt also has a 66-1 record vs. non-conference opponents at the Petersen Events Center.
*Pitt extended its school record 38-game win streak against non-conference opponents at the Petersen Events Center.
*Levance Fields registered his third double-double of the season and his career with 12 points and a career-high tying 13 assists. He reached double figures in scoring for the 15th time on the year, 61st time in his career and double figure assists for the fourth time in his career and season. His 13 assists tied a career-high (also had 13 vs. South Florida on Jan. 14, 2009) and ranked tied for the sixth all-time best assist performance in school history. The school record is 16 assists held by Bob Shrewsbury vs. South Carolina on Feb. 14, 1976.
*With his 23 points, Sam Young scored over 20 points for the ninth time this season. Young has now reached double figure scoring for the 20th time this year and 83rd time in his career. He has now scored in double figures in 64 of his last 69 games played.
*Jermaine Dixon hit a career-high tying three 3-pointers. He has also hit three 3-pointers four times this year. Dixon, who finished with 15 points, registered his 10th career double figure scoring game.
*DeJuan Blair scored 18 points and finished with eight rebounds (six offensive). He reached double figure scoring for the 17th time this year and 42nd time in his career.
*Ashton Gibbs hit a career-high tying three 3-pointers for the fourth time this year. He has hit at least one 3-pointer in 13 of 21 games played on the year and is converting 51.1 percent (23-45) on the year. All nine of his points were scored in the first half.
*Pitt improved to 27-0 all-time vs. Robert Morris and 66-0 all-time vs. Northeast Conference opponents.
*Robert Morris converted Pitt opponent team season-highs of 57.4 percent (27-47) of its field goals and 58.8 percent (10-17) of its 3-point field goals against Pitt on the night.
*Robert Morris became just the third team this season to score over 70 points against Pitt. Pitt has now limited 19 of its 22 opponents to 70 points or less. Since Jamie Dixon became head coach, Pitt has held 157 of its 194 opponents under 70 points.
*Robert Morris is coached by former Pitt assistant Mike Rice. Rice is in his second season at Robert Morris with a 41-16 two-year record. The loss snapped a nine-game win streak for the Colonials.
