*Pitt (20-5) won its 20th game of the season, the 12th consecutive year that the Panthers have won 20 or more games. The win marks the 20th time that Pitt has surpassed the 20-win mark in program history.
*Pitt is one of the hottest teams in American. The Panthers have won three straight, seven of its last eight games and eight of the last 10. The Panthers won their eighth Big East contest, including their third-straight and moving to 8-4 in league play. The only other Big East team which boasts eight league victories is Marquette (8-2). Pitt plays at Marquette next Saturday.
*The Panthers have won four of their past five road games. Pitt has claimed 30 of its last 49 road games and owns one of the Big East’s top road records (57-42) over the last 12 seasons. Pitt improves to 4-2 on the road this year with victories over No. 17 Cincinnati, No. 19 Georgetown, Providence and Villanova.
*Pitt moved to 3-3 on this season versus nationally ranked teams, having previously defeated No. 17 Cincinnati, No. 6 Syracuse and No. 19 Georgetown.
*Cincinnati was held to its second lowest point total of the season (52). Pitt’s defense held the Bearcats without a field goal the final 9:21 of the game, 20 percent shooting in the second half (5-25), 30 percent shooting (16-52) for the game and 16 percent from 3-point range for the entire game (4-25).
*Pitt has now held 16 of its 25 opponents to 60 points or less and 24 of its 25 foes to 70 points or less on the year.
*Pitt limited Cincinnati to a 30.3 field goal percentage, the third-straight opponent the Panthers’ have held below a 37 percent field goal performance.
*The teams have split the two regular season league matchups as Pitt and Cincinnati each won on the other’s home court. The Bearcats posted a 70-61 win over the Panthers on Dec. 31, 2012. The Panthers have won eight of the last matchups in the series, including three of the last four at Fifth Third Arena.
*Nine players reached the scoring column for the Panthers for the 17th time this season.
*Tray Woodall scored a team-high 14 points and in doing so became the 41st member of Pitt’s 1,000 point club. He raised her assist career total to 547, becoming just the seventh player in program history to total more than 1,000 points and 500 assists in a career. Woodall reached double figure scoring for the 41st time in his career and 15th time on the year.
*Woodall drained three 3-pointers, his fifth game this season with three or more triples.
*Freshman Steven Adams recorded 13 points, the fifth double-digit game of his career. The center shot 5-of-6 from the floor. He also tied a career-high with four blocked shots.
*Redshirt junior Talib Zanna registered his 12th double figure scoring game of the season and 25th of his career with 11 points. He added a team-high nine rebounds, the sixth game this season Zanna has collected nine or more boards.
