*Pitt’s dropped to 15-14 overall and 4-12 in the Big East Conference. The Panthers have two more regular season games to go: vs. St. John’s (Feb. 29), at Connecticut (March 3). If the season ended today, Pitt would be the No. 13 seed upon entering the Big East Championship. It would play No. 12 Rutgers on Tuesday in the Big East Championship First Round.
*With the loss, the Panthers are 3-7 on the road this year. They have now won 25 of their last 40 road games and continue to own the Big East’s best road record (53-39) over the past 11 seasons.
*Louisville defeated Pitt for the second time this year. Pitt falls to 5-7 all-time vs. Louisville and 1-4 in matchups played in Kentucky. It was Pitt’s second appearance vs. Louisville in the KFC Yum! Center.
*Pitt battled back from deficits of 10 points in the first half and eight points in the second half and had opportunities down the stretch.
*For the second consecutive game, J.J. Moore led the Panthers in scoring with 16 points. He has now reached double figure scoring in a career-high three consecutive games: 21 points vs. USF (Feb. 19), 10 points vs. West Virginia. Moore also finished with a career-high three steals on the day. He has reached double figure scoring in seven games on the year and 11 in his career. He also finished with seven rebounds, one shy of his career-high total.
*With his 11 points, Dante Taylor reached double figure scoring for the fifth time this season and 12th time in his career. He tied a career-high with five free throws made and grabbed five or more rebounds for the 18th time in his career. Taylor made his first start in 14 games. It was his 10th career start at Pitt.
*Nasir Robinson finished the game with a game-high 11 rebounds and eight points. The 11 rebounds marked his 13th career double figure rebounding contest and fifth of the year.
*Pitt outrebounded Louisville 38-25 for a plus-13 margin. The Panthers rank among the nation’s top-10 and No. 1 in the Big East in rebound margin.
*Pitt dropped to 0-14 on the year when trailing with 5:00 to go in games. Pitt dropped to 0-10 when trailing at the half.
*Pitt finished with 19 turnovers in the game. It was the third-most by Pitt this year (23 vs. Duquesne, 21 vs. LaSalle). Louisville finished with an opponent team season-high 13 steals vs. the Panthers.
