*With the win, No. 23 Pitt improved to 22-7 overall and 10-6 in the Big East Conference while South Florida falls to 10-17 overall and 1-14 in the Big East. Pitt now has two regular season games remaining on its schedule: Villanova (Sunday, March 3 at noon) and at DePaul (Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. ET). Sunday’s game vs. Villanova marks Senior Day and the final home game for both Tray Woodall and Dante Taylor.
*Pitt improved to 10-6 in Big East regular season play with two games to go. It has won 10 or more Big East regular season games for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons, the only league program to achieve that honor.
*Pitt has now won nine of its last 12 games and 10 of its last 14.
*Pitt took control with a 16-0 run early in the second half. Pitt shot just 27 percent (7-26) in the first half and held a 26-25 halftime lead. The Panthers shot 59.1 percent (13-22) in the second half.
*Pitt’s 22 victories on the year rank tied for its 14th highest total in school history. The 22 victories tie last season’s total of 22 set in 39 games.
*Pitt limited USF to 44 points. Pitt has now held 19 of its 29 opponents to 60 points or less this season. Pitt has now held five Big East opponents under 50 points on the year: South Florida (44), St. John’s (47), Georgetown (45), Villanova (43) and Seton Hall (46). Pitt has also held 26 of its 29 foes to 70 points or less.
*Pitt improved to 179-22 (.890 winning percentage) in the Petersen Events Center. Pitt also improved to 74-19 all-time vs. Big East opponents at the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers have won 85 of their last 97 home games and 36 of their last 46 Big East home games. Pitt has also won 20 of its last 23 home games.
*With 12 points and 10 rebounds, Dante Taylor registered his third double-double of his career and first of the season. It also marked his 16th double figure scoring game of his career and third of the year. It was his 11th career double figure rebounding game and third of the year.
*Tray Woodall scored a Pitt-high 14 points. The game marked his eighth consecutive double figure scoring game, 45th of his career and 19th of the season. Woodall surpassed 300 points for the season and needs just two more assists to reach the 150 mark for the year. He will reach 300 points and 150 assists for the second year in his career, becoming one of seven players in school history to achieve the mark in two seasons.
*Steven Adams set a new career-high for blocked shots with five. He has now totaled four or more blocked shots six times in his career.
*Pitt improved to 6-5 all-time vs. South Florida. The Panthers are now 4-1 vs. the Bulls at the Petersen Events Center. The game signified the final Big East regular season contest between the two schools.
