POST-GAME NOTES

 

*Pitt completes its regular season with a 21-6 overall record and 10-6 Big East record. Pitt is currently in fifth place with an 10-6 Big East record. Pitt will receive the No. 5 seed should Marquette (9-7) lose to Providence on Saturday. Should Marquette defeat Providence, Pitt will receive the No. 6 seed.

 

*Pitt concludes its regular season with a 16-1 home record. The 16-1 record marks among the top home seasons in Pitt history.

 

*With its 16-1 home record, Pitt drops to 64-6 overall in the four-year old Petersen Events Center and 27-5 against Big East regular season opponents in the PEC. Pitt's records at home in each of the last four seasons: 16-0 in 2002-03, 19-1 in 2003-04, 13-4 in 2004-05 and 16-1 in 2005-06. The losses have come to Syracuse, Bucknell, Georgetown, West Virginia, Connecticut and now Seton Hall.


 

 

 

*Pitt's home win streak ended at 16 games tonight. The 16-game home win streak ranks as the third longest in school history. The 16 straight wins also rank as the second longest win streak in Petersen Events Center history. Pitt won 34 consecutive games to open the Petersen Events Center from Nov. 23, 2002-Feb. 29, 2004. The 34-game home win streak ranks as the third longest streak to open an arena in NCAA Division I history: 51-UCLA, 1964; 41-Providence, 1971-72; 34-Pitt, 2002-04.

 

*With the loss, Pitt has now won six of its last nine meetings against Seton Hall dating back to the 2000-01 season. Additionally Pitt is now 2-1 vs. Seton Hall at the Petersen Events Center. It drops to 26-19 overall against the Pirates in the series which began on Dec. 27, 1956.

 

*Pitt senior Carl Krauser needs just four rebounds to become the first player in school history to score 1,500 points, dish out 500 assists and grab 500 rebounds in a career. Krauser now has 1,560 points, 535 assists and 496 rebounds in his four-year career. Krauser passed Demetreus Gore (1,555 points from 1984-88) for 11th place on Pitt's all-time career scoring list. He needs just 12 points to pass Vonteego Cummings (1,581 points from 1995-99) for 10th place.

 

*The last time Pitt lost at home was on last year's Senior Night, a 73-64 loss to Connecticut on Feb. 26, 2005.

 

*Pitt shot a season-low 52.4 percent (11-21) from the free throw line. The previous season low was 58.3 percent (14-24) in both the Wisconsin (Dec. 31, 2005) and Louisville (1/15/06) games.

 

*Aaron Gray registered his Big East leading 14th double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds on the evening. He also reached double figure scoring for the 22nd time this year.

 

*Levon Kendall set a career-high with 15 points on the evening. He also tied career-highs for field goals made (7) and blocked shots (3).

 

*Carl Krauser dished out a season-high 11 assists. It was his third all-time 10-plus assist game of his career.

 

*The contest marked Pitt's annual Senior Night. Four players were honored in a pre-game ceremony including seniors Carl Krauser and John DeGroat and four-year players Marcus Bowman and Charles Small. Additionally, two managers--Byron Allis and Lee Baierl were recognized for their involvement with the program.

 

*Pitt sophomore walk-on Maurice Polen sang the national anthem prior to the contest.
