*Pitt’s drops to 16-15 overall and 5-13 in the Big East Conference. Pitt will enter the Big East Tournament as the No. 13 seed and will play either St. John’s or Rutgers at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.
*With the loss, the Panthers are 3-8 on the road this year. They have now won 25 of their last 41 road games and continue to own the Big East’s best road record (53-40) over the past 11 seasons.
*Pitt played its fourth all-time game at Gampel Pavilion. The Panthers drop to 1-3 in such games. Pitt dropped to 28-32 all-time vs. Connecticut. Prior to today’s game, Pitt had claimed five of the series’ last seven games including wins in each of the last two contests played in Connecticut.
*Pitt battled back from its largest halftime deficit of the season (14 points). Pitt trailed 36-22 at halftime.
*In the second half, Pitt converted 63.0 percent (17-27) of its field goal attempts.
*J.J. Moore led Pitt with 16 points and has reached double figure scoring in a career-high five consecutive games. He has now reached double figures in nine games this season and 13 times in his career.
*Lamar Patterson scored 12 points on a perfect 5-5 from the floor. It marked his 13th game scoring in double figures this season and the 15th of his career.
*With his 12 points, Ashton Gibbs reached double figure scoring for the 85th time in his career and 25th time this year. All 12 of his points came in the second half.
*Nasir Robinson finished the game with 10 points in 23 minutes. It was his 36th double figure scoring game of his career and 15th of the year.
*Tray Woodall finished with 11 points, his 22nd double figure game of his career and 11th of the year.
*Pitt dropped to 0-15 on the year when trailing with 5:00 to go in games. Pitt dropped to 0-11 when trailing at the half.
