*Pitt moved to 17-16 overall on the year.
*Pitt is now 26-28 overall in Big East Championship action in 30 years. The Panthers are 7-5 in their last 12 Big East Championship games.
*Pitt and Georgetown met for the 77th time in program history. The Panthers moved to 35-41 all-time against the Hoyas. The contest was the fifth in Big East Championship play against Georgetown and the third meeting since 2007. The Hoyas hold a 4-1 edge in head-to-head meetings in the Big East Championship. The game represented a rematch of the 2007 and 2008 Big East Championship Finals.
*The loss was the largest margin of defeat for the Panthers in BEC play since a 14-point setback to West Virginia on March 12, 2009 (as a No. 2 seed).
*Pitt dropped to 28-14 at Madison Square Garden since the 2001-01 season. The Panthers have claimed 16 of their last 23 games at MSG. Pitt was 2-1 at MSG this year, which included Tuesday’s first round win over St. John’s and a December victory over Oklahoma State in the Madison Square Garden Classic.
*Ashton Gibbs led the Panthers in scoring with 14 points. The game was Gibbs’ 87th career double figure scoring game. The contest marked the senior’s fourth-straight double figure game. Gibbs was the only player in double figures for Pitt.
*Pitt dropped to 0-12 when trailing at halftime.
