Pitt 71, Delaware State 43
*Pitt defeated Delaware State, 71-43, on Wednesday evening and won its 100th all-time non-conference game at the Petersen Events Center. Pitt improves to 11-1 on the season, while DSU drops to 5-7.
*The Panthers are now 100-3 (.971) at the Petersen Events Center against non-conference foes and 46-1 in December. Overall, Pitt owns an all-time record of 173-19 (.901) at the Petersen Events Center.
*Pitt also won its 14th consecutive home game. The 14-game home win streak ties for the seventh longest home win streak in program history.
*Pitt shot 61.2 percent for the contest (30-49), while Delaware State shot 39.5 percent (17-43). The 28-point margin of victory marked the 75th time at the Petersen Events Center that Pitt has defeated an opponent by 20-plus points. Pitt also held an opponent under 60 points for the 108th time at the Petersen Events Center.
*Talib Zanna tied a career-high with 20 points (9-13) as he scored a team-high in points for the fourth time this season. Tonight marked the eighth time this season he has reached double figures and the 21st time in his career. He also grabbed a team-best nine rebounds. His 13 field goal attempts and 32 minutes played also mark career-highs.
*J.J. Moore added 15 points (6-10 shooting), for his second-consecutive game in double figures. It was his fifth time this season scoring in double digits.
*Steven Adams finished the game with 10 points, eight rebounds and tied a career-high with four blocked shots. He also blocked four shots against Mount Saint Mary’s and North Florida.
*James Robinson registered a career-high nine assists and committed just one turnover on the night. Tray Woodall added eight assists. Collectively, the Panthers had 24 assists on 30 field goals and just nine turnovers. Pitt committed just one turnover in the second half.
*Pitt outscored Delaware State 48-18 in the paint, and has now outscored its opponents 470-246 in the paint this season.
*Pitt opened the second half on a 10-0 run (the first six which were scored by Zanna) to increase a four point halftime lead (31-27) to 14 points to 41-27 with five minutes into the second half.
*Dante Taylor did not play due to a heel contusion. This was the first game Taylor missed since Nov. 27, 2011 vs. Robert Morris.
