PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh will stage its "Gold Out" promotion for its Thursday men's basketball matchup against West Virginia at the Petersen Events Center. All fans are encouraged to wear gold clothing and will receive a custom "This Is Our House" gold tee-shirt courtesy of Peoples Natural Gas. Tipoff for the nationally televised game on ESPN is at 9:05 p.m. ET.
Pitt and West Virginia meet for the 184th time since 1903-04. The Panthers are 7-1 all-time against the Mountaineers at the Petersen Events Center and have won 17 of the past 24 overall matchups. Pitt coach Jamie Dixon is 12-6 all-time vs. WVU.
In the rival's previous meeting on Jan. 30 in Morgantown, Pitt claimed a 72-66 victory as Tray Woodall sparked the Panthers with a game-high 24 points.
Pitt previously held a "Gold Out" on Dec. 27, 2010 contest between the No. 6 ranked Panthers and No. 4 Connecticut. Pitt won the game 78-63 in front of a standing-room only crowd.
