Two Big East regular season games remain on Pitt's schedule: St. John's (Feb. 29) and at Connecticut (March 3) before Big East Championship play begins on Tuesday, March 6. Pitt will play in the Big East Championship First Round and will enter the tourney as either the No. 12, No. 13, No. 14 or No. 15 seed.

Pitt enters the Wednesday night home contest after dropping five straight games and following a 57-54 loss at No. 17 Louisville. The Panthers were in the game right up until the closing seconds and had several opportunities to win the game. Once again, J.J. Moore led Pitt with 16 points (6-9 FG) off the bench. Dante Taylor added 11 points (5-7 FT) and Nasir Robinson scored eight points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Pitt battled back from deficits of 10 points (first half) and eight points (second half) and cut a second half lead all the way down to one point (53-52) with 29 seconds but could not overturn it.

This season, Pitt has had a variety of players play through and sidelined with injuries including Woodall who sat out 11 of 12 games with a groin/abdominal strain, Dante Taylor (concussion), Ashton Gibbs (ankle), Cameron Wright (finger), Nasir Robinson (knee surgery before the season). Because of the injuries, 11 different Pitt players have started and the Panthers have used seven different starting lineup combinations.
