2010-11 Senior Class Achievements

2010-2011 SENIOR CLASS ACHIEVEMENTS

Pitt’s 2010-11 senior class consists of Gilbert Brown, Gary McGhee and Brad Wanamaker. Consider the following accomplishments (as of March 3, 2011):

• Will advance to its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament, becoming the sixth senior class in school history to achieve that honor.

• Attempting to become the all-time winningest class over a four-year period and has put together the school’s second-best winning percentage over a four-year period.

• Holds a 109-27 career record, .801 winning percentage, the second-best in school history (as of March 3, 2011).

• Clinched at least a share of the 2010-11 Big East regular season title.

• Guided the Panthers to the 2008 Big East Tournament championship, Pitt’s second all-time title.

• Led Pitt to NCAA Elite Eight play for the first time in school history (2009).

• Helped Pitt achieve the school’s first-ever No. 1 ranking and defeat of a No. 1 ranked team (2009).

• Four consecutive 20-win seasons.

• Four consecutive 10-plus win Big East regular seasons including a school record 15 league wins in 2008-09. A win on Saturday vs. Villanova matches that achievement.

• One of only seven senior classes in school history to win over 100 career games.

• Brown, McGhee and Wanamaker will become the ninth, 10th and 11th players in school history to compete in four straight NCAA Tournaments during their basketball career at Pitt.

• 51 career Big East victories rank as the most league victories for a four-year class in school history.

• 68-4 four-year record and .944 winning percentage in games played at the Petersen Events Center (as of Feb. 25, 2011).

• 48-4 four-year record and .923 winning percentage in games played vs. non-conference teams.

• Ranked in the top-25 for a total of 59 weeks (as of March 7, 2011).

• Guided Pitt to its best-ever start to a Big East regular season with seven consecutive wins in 2010-11.

• Two players who have surpassed or close to surpassing the career 1,000-point scoring mark: Brad Wanamaker and Gilbert Brown (995 points as of March 3, 2011).

• All three student-athletes are on pace to graduate with a degree from the University of Pittsburgh: Gilbert Brown—sociology, Gary McGhee—communications, Brad Wanamaker—communications.
