WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

A look at former Pitt Basketball players currently at the professional level

 

Chase Adams

Bochum, Germany

*Played in three games for VFL AstroStars-Bochum and averaged 8.0 points and 4.0 assists per game.

*Has also played for Jena (Germany), Metroplex (ABA), Dortmund (Germany) and Dallas (ABA).

 

Steven Adams

Oklahoma City Thunder, NBA

*Named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team for the 2013-14 season.

*Played in 81 games with 20 starts for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

*Averaged 14.8 minutes, 3.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.7 blocks.

*Oklahoma City captured the NBA's Northwest Division title with a 59-23 overall record.

*Season-highs were 17 points and 10 rebounds in a double-double vs. Detroit in November.


 

 

*Oklahoma City is in the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. The winner advances to the NBA Championship.

 

Tyrell Biggs

Reno Bighorns, NBDL

*Played 31 games and started six this year for the NBDL's Reno Bighorns.

*Averaged 7.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game for Reno.

*Season highs were 20 points (1-1 3FG, 2-2 FT) and seven rebounds against Santa Cruz in March.

*Has also played professionally in Lithuania, Israel, Cyprus, Greece and Canton Charge.

 

DeJuan Blair

Dallas Mavericks, NBA

*Started 13 and played in 78 games on the year.

*Averaged 6.4 points, 15.6 minutes, 4.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Also shooting 57 percent from the floor.

*Season-highs are 18 points vs. Orlando and Philadelphia and 18 rebounds vs. Atlanta.

*Dallas lost in the Conference Quarterfinals against Oklahoma City and ended the 2013-2014 season with a record of 49-33.

*Fourth year in the NBA.

 

Gilbert Brown

Canton Charge, NBDL

*Started 33 and played in 40 games (32.2 minutes per game) for the NBDL's Canton Charge.

*Ranked fifth on the Charge in scoring at 12.3 points per game. Averaged 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, while shooting .496 percent from the floor.

*Reached 20 or more points five times in 2013-14 and scored 24 points (3-5 3FG, 9-10 FT) in 38 minutes against Texas on Jan. 7.

*Has also played professionally in Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Turkey, Dominican Republic and with Fort Wayne of the NBDL.

 

Mike Cook

Thor Thorl, Iceland

*Starting off guard for Thor Thorl in Iceland.

*Led team in scoring (24.7 ppg.) and averaged 5.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 22 games played for 11-11 Thor of the Dominos League.

*Also shot 50.9 (200-393) from the floor, hit 26 3-pointers and converted 83.2 percent (139-167) of his free throw attempts.

*Has also played professionally in Qatar, Poland, United Kingdom and in the NBDL.

 

John DeGroat

Fuerza Regia, Mexico

*Played for Fuerza Regia in the Mexican League.

*Played in 13 games for Fuerza Regia in Monterrey, Mexico, which finished in fifth place in the LNBP standings with a 26-14 record.

*Averaged 12.5 points and shot 50 percent (43-86) while averaging 31.5 minutes per game.

*Has also played for several other teams in Argentina, several teams in the Ukraine and for the Pittsburgh Explosion.

 

Jermaine Dixon

Hamamatsu-Higashi Mikawa Phoenix. Japan

*Led his team in both scoring (16.6 ppg.), assists (4.5) and steals (1.5).

*Also hit 100 3-pointers in 53 games.

*Hamamatsu finished fourth in the Western Basketball Japan Division with a 27-25 record.

*Also played in Germany, Bosnia and with another team in Japan.

 

Ashton Gibbs

Hoops, Lebanon

*Played the second half of the year with Hoops in Lebanon where he averaged 24.4 points and shot 41.4 percent from 3-point range in 10 games.

*His season high for Lebanon was 32 points against Homenetm Basketball Club.

*Played the first half of the season for Steaua CSM Eximbank Buceresti Basketball team in Romania.

*Averaged 9.3 points and led the team in 3-pointers made (19-41) and 3-point percentage (46.3).

*Has also played in Romania, Spain and Greece.

 

Antonio Graves

Artland Dragons, Germany

*Started at shooting guard for the Artland Dragons in the Germany Basketball League.

*Averaged 7.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

*Was one of five Americans starting for the squad.

*Artland finished in seventh place out of 18 teams in the BBL standings with a 20-14 record.

*Has also played in Italy, Turkey, Israel, Croatia and the NBDL League.

 

Aaron Gray

Sacramento Kings, NBA

*In 37 games with the Kings, averaged 9.6 minutes, 1.8 points, 0.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game.

*Season highs were 13 rebounds against Phoenix and five assists vs. Denver.

*Traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Sacramento Kings as part of a seven-player trade on December 10, 2013.

*Completed his seventh season in the NBA: Sacramento (2013-current), Toronto Raptors (2012-13), New Orleans Hornets (2010-12) and Chicago Bulls (2007-09).

 

RICARDO GREER

Strasbourg, France

*In 10 games played for Strasbourg, averaged 7.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

*Also shot 46.7 percent (21-45) from the floor.

*Strasbourg competes in the Euroleague and Eurocup.

*Season-high were 21 points and 7 rebounds two times.

*Also has played for the Dominican Republic National Team.

*Also played in Croatia, United Kingdom and for several other teams in France.

 

Levon Kendall

ALBA-Berlin, Germany

*Started at center for ALBA Berlin.

*In 39 games played, averaged 8.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and shot 53.5 percent (114-213) from the floor.

*ALBA ranked as the No. 3 team in the BBL standings at 21-7.

*Has also played in Spain and Greece.

 

Gary McGhee

Neckar Riesen Ludwigsburg, Germany

*In 25 games for Ludwigsburg, averaged 6.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and shot 52.6 percent (61-116) from the floor in 16.6 minutes per game.

*Previously played with Gravelines in France.

*Also has played in France, Turkey and Croatia.

 

Ronald Ramon

Winner/Kabum Limeira, Brazil

*Starting off guard for Kabum Limeira.

*In 33 games, averaged 12.9 points and 2.8 assists per game. Ranked second on the squad in both categories.

*Also converted 36.0 percent (62-172) of his 3-point attempts.

*Limeira finished fourth in the NBB standings with a 21-11 overall record.

*Has competed for the Dominican Republic national team. The head coach is former Pitt player and current USF head coach Orlando Antigua.

*Has also competed in Venezuela, Uruguay and Argentina.

 

Nasir Robinson

BSG Grevenbroich, Germany

*Playing with BSG Grevenbroich in Germany

*Averaged 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game for Stjarnan in Iceland.

*Has also played the 2012-13 season with Rieker KN in Slovakia and Stjarnan (Iceland) in 2013-14.

 

Dante Taylor

SAM Basket El Massagno, Switzerland

*Starting center for El Massagno in Switzerland.

*Averaged 13.7 points and 8.9 rebounds in his 28 games with El Massagno.

*Also shot 56.7 percent (157-277) from the floor and blocked a team leading 1.1 shots per game..

*His season-high was 29 points (11-14 FG) and 11 rebounds vs. Neuchatel.

 

Chevon Troutman

FC Bayern Muenchen, Germany

*Completed his first season with Bayern Muenchen in Germany, the BBL regular season champions with a 29-5 overall record.

*Averaged 7.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Also shot 61.3 percent (73-119) and 80.0 percent (from the free throw line).

*Also has played in Italy, France and the Dominican Republic.

 

Brad Wanamaker

Giorgo Tesi PT, Italy

*Named Most Valuable Player in the Italian SerieABeko League.

*Played in 35 games as the starting point guard for Giorgo Tesi.

*Led Giorgo Tesi with a 16.2 points, 4.7 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game averages.

*Season-high was 29 points (8-14 FG, 2-2 3FG), eight rebounds vs. V. Libertas PS.

*Also has played for the Atlanta Hawks, in France, the NBDL and for several other teams in Italy.

 

Tray Woodall

Ikaros Kallitheas, Greece

*Played the second half of the season with Ikaros Kallitheas in Greece, where he averaged 4.0 points and 1.6 assists per game over nine contests.

*Played the first half of the season in Turkey, eight games in his first season with Istanbul B.B.

 

Sam Young

Bayamon, Puerto Rico

Sydney Kings, Australia

*Currently playing this summer for Bayamon in the Puerto Rican League.

*In 25 games, leads Bayamon in scoring (20.6 ppg.) and ranks second in rebounding (7.8 rpg.) while converting an astounding 62.5 percent of his shots (175-280).

*In the winter, played 21 games for the Sydney Kings in the Australian National Basketball League.

*Led the Kings in scoring (21.9 ppg.) and ranked second in rebounding (5.5 rpg.).

*Five-year NBA veteran: Indiana Pacers (2012-current), Philadelphia 76ers (2012-12), Memphis Grizzlies (2009-12).

Vanoli Cremona, Italy

*Played 16 games, averaged 5.9 points and 4.2 rebounds for VC.

*Vanoli Cremona competes in the SerieA League in Italy.

*Has also played in Germany, Russia, Latvia and in his home country, Lithuania.
