PROVIDENCE, R.I.--The Big East Conference announced league opponents and game sites for the 2011-12 University of Pittsburgh men's basketball season on Thursday.
For the fifth consecutive year, Pitt will play an 18-game Big East regular season schedule and will face each of the 15 possible league opponents at least once. Additionally, Pitt will face three of those schools on two occasions. The decisions regarding opponents are based on natural interest, geography, rivalries, television contractual obligations and competitive balance. All 144 regular season conference games will be televised, either by CBS Sports, the ESPN family of networks or ESPN Regional Television.
Pitt will play nine home games and nine away contests during league regular season competition. Home opponents at the Petersen Events Center will include Cincinnati, Georgetown, Louisville, Providence, Rutgers, St. John's, USF, Villanova and West Virginia.
The Panthers' 2011-12 road opponents are Connecticut, DePaul, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Seton Hall, USF, Syracuse and West Virginia.
Pitt's three repeat opponents are Louisville, USF and West Virginia.
The Big East Championship is scheduled for March 6-10 at Madison Square Garden.

The 2012 Final Four is scheduled for March 31-April 2 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.
