Team USA Defeats Canada 109-67

PRAGUE, Czech Republic--University of Pittsburgh freshman James Robinson (Mitchellville, Md./DeMatha Catholic H.S.) and Team USA improved to 7-0 in the FIBA U19 World Championships with a 109-67 win over Canada on Friday. Robinson played 13 minutes and finished with three assists and two points.

USA advances to the final four and semifinal play against Lithuania (6-1) on Saturday, July 6 at 8:15 p.m. Prague Time/2:15 p.m. ET. Australia faces Serbia in the other semifinal game. The winners meet in the championship game, scheduled for Sunday, July 7. USA is the only team in the field with a perfect 7-0 record.

Team USA jumped ahead 24-14 in the first quarter before Canada fought back to make it 27-22. The Americans led 30-22 after one quarter. Canada had the deficit down to seven points, 35-28, before USA opened a 53-36 lead, which was 53-38 at the break. The Americans broke the game open in the third quarter with a 15-2 run for a 73-44 cushion. Canada would get no closer than 30 points in the fourth quarter. Seven USA players reached double figure scoring led by Marcus Smart (14 points) and Aaron Gordon, Jahill Okafor and Michael Frazier scored 12 points apiece.

In the seven-game series, Robinson has played 113 minutes, scored 17 points, ranks second on the team with 17 assists and notched 10 steals while averaging 16.1 minutes, 2.4 points and 2.4 assists per game.
