NASSAU, Bahamas--Senior Cameron Wright scored 18 of his game-high 21 points in the first half to lead the University of Pittsburgh basketball team to a 101-62 win over the Pyramid Food Rockets Saturday afternoon at Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymasium. The contest marked the first of Pitt's four-game Bahamas foreign tour.

Next up for Pitt is the Bahamas All-Stars on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. Following an off day, Pitt will play the Street Legends All-Stars on Tuesday, Aug. 5 (9 p.m. ET) and then the Atlantis All-Stars on Wednesday, Aug. 6 (7 p.m. ET).

Wright scored 18 first half points and sophomore Chris Jones added 11 of his 12 points to give the Panthers a commanding 20-point halftime lead (48-28). Leading just 17-14, Pitt took control of the game as it used an 8-0 run over the first quarter's final 2:05 to build a 25-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. Sparked by two 3-pointers from Wright, the Panthers used another 8-0 run before halftime to go up 48-28 at the half. Another 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter pushed Pitt's lead to 87-49.

Putting up big numbers for Pitt were sophomore Michael Young, who scored 17 points on 7-9 shooting with seven rebounds and five assists, freshman Cameron Johnson, who in his first Pitt action, finished with 13 points and hit 3-6 3-pointers, Jones, who contributed his 12 points and sophomores Jamel Artis and Sheldon Jeter (seven rebounds/team-leading six assists), who both scored eight points. Junior Joseph Uchebo led the Panthers with 12 rebounds, while senior Derrick Randall grabbed nine.

Pitt went over the 100 point mark on an Aron Nwankwo jumper with 47 seconds to play.

Pitt's five starters included senior Randall at center, sophomores Young and Jones at forward and senior Wright and junior James Robinson at guard.

Tomeko Moxey led the Rockets with 12 points, while Kevin Hinsey added 11.
