PITTSBURGH--Pitt's second season in the Atlantic Coast Conference will feature home games against Syracuse, Louisville and North Carolina as the University of Pittsburgh released its entire 32-game 2014-15 men's basketball schedule on Wednesday. Additional national, ESPN Regional, ACC Network and local television games will be announced at a later date.
Pitt will begin its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule in January. The Panthers will play an 18-game ACC regular season schedule and will face each of the 14 possible league opponents at least once. Pitt will play nine home games, nine away contests and face four of those schools two times apiece (Boston College, Florida State, Louisville and Syracuse).
Pitt's nine home ACC games at the Petersen Events Center include Boston College (Feb. 24), Clemson (Jan. 10), Florida State (Jan. 14), Georgia Tech (Jan. 17), Louisville (Jan. 25), Miami (March 4), North Carolina (Feb. 14), Notre Dame (Jan. 31) and Syracuse (Feb. 7). The Panthers' 2014-15 road opponents are Boston College (Jan. 6), Duke (Jan. 19), Florida State (March 7), Louisville (Feb. 11), North Carolina State (Jan. 3), Syracuse (Feb. 21), Virginia (Feb. 16), Virginia Tech (Jan. 27) and Wake Forest (March 1).
The 62nd annual 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball Tournament is scheduled for March 10-14 at Greensboro Coliseum. Future ACC Tournament sites are scheduled for the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. (2016) and Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. (2017 and 2018).
As part of its first-ever appearance in the Maui Invitational, Pitt will play three games from Nov. 24-26 at the Lahaina Center in Maui, Hawaii. Pitt will open the Maui Invite against Chaminade on Monday, Nov. 24 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU. Depending on the result, Pitt will face either San Diego State or BYU in the second round game on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at either 4:30 p.m. ET or 10 p.m. ET (ESPN or ESPN2). Game three is to be announced. Potential game three opponents include Arizona, Kansas State, Missouri or Purdue. Click here for the full EA SPORTS Maui Invitational bracket. Pitt will play four total games on its trip to Hawaii as it has also scheduled a road game against the University of Hawaii on Friday, Nov. 21 at Wailuku, Hawaii's War Memorial Gym. Due to NCAA rules, programs that schedule a road contest against a team in Hawaii are granted an extra game. That is why the Panthers will play 14 contests instead of the typical 13-game non-conference schedule.
Pitt will also travel to Indiana on Tuesday, Dec. 2 as part of the 2014 ACC/Big Ten Basketball Challenge Presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods. Tipoff for that contest will be at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
The Panthers will open their season against Niagara on Friday, Nov. 14 at the Petersen Events Center. The contest is the first of eight non-conference home games including Samford (Maui Invitational game, Nov. 16), St. Bonaventure (Dec. 13), Manhattan (Dec. 17), Oakland (Dec. 20), Holy Cross (Dec. 23), Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 30) and Bryant (Feb. 2).
The annual City Game, presented by GNC, will take place on Friday, Dec. 5 at the Consol Energy Center. For the first time, Pitt season ticketholders will receive City Game tickets as part of their season ticket package. For non-season ticketholders, City Game tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster on a predetermined date.
Additionally, Pitt will host exhibition games against Indiana, Pa. (Oct. 31) and Philadelphia University (Nov. 7). The Panthers will also host two preseason scrimmages: Oakland Zoo Scrimmage (TBA) and the Maggie Dixon Heart Health Fair/Fan Fest and Blue-Gold Scrimmage (Oct. 19).
Since the Petersen Events Center opened in 2002-03, all 216 regular season games have been sold out. To join Pitt's season ticket waiting list, click here.
Pitt returns three starters and 11 letterwinners from a team that finished 26-10 overall and advanced to its 12th NCAA Tournament in the last 13 seasons. For more information and updated news on Pitt Basketball, follow @hailtopitthoops.
