PITTSBRUGH – The 2010-11 Big East regular season champion Pitt men’s basketball team was awarded its title rings during halftime of the Pitt-Notre Dame football game Saturday at Heinz Field. Each student-athlete and coaching staff member ran out onto the field and was introduced before the announced sellout crowd of 65,050.
The ring features a golden Panther head over a blue backdrop. Diamonds are stacked on the top and bottom featuring the words: “Big East Champions” set upon a gold base.
Pitt captured its sixth all-time Big East regular season title, winning the league title outright with a school record-tying 15-3 league record. The title marked Pitt’s eighth overall Big East title in school history. Pitt and Connecticut have won a league-leading six league titles over the last 10 years.
