PITTSBURGH--The Pitt Basketball program will host three events as part of the University of Pittsburgh's Homecoming and 225-year celebration this weekend: Outdoor Midnight Madness/Basketball on Bigelow (Friday at 10 p.m.), the Maggie Dixon Heart Health Fair (Sunday at noon) and the Blue-Gold Scrimmage (Sunday at 2 p.m.). Admission is free and open to the public for all three events.

Outdoor Midnight Madness/Basketball on Bigelow will begin at 10 p.m. ET immediately following the conclusion of the Homecoming fireworks and laser show. The Pitt men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced on an outdoor court on Bigelow Boulevard between the Cathedral of Learning and William Pitt Union. Should inclement weather occur, the event will move indoors to the Petersen Events Center.

ESPN3 will broadcast the entirety of the event and ESPNU's Midnight Madness special will provide live interviews and updates. Bob Picozzi (play-by-play) and Bill Raftery (analysis) will provide the commentary for the broadcast. Raftery made the famous call "Send it in Jerome!" on January 25, 1988 when Pitt forward Jerome Lane threw down a dunk that shattered the backboard at Fitzgerald Field House. He also served as master of ceremonies for the 2002 Midnight Madness event that opened the Petersen Events Center.

On Sunday at the Petersen Events Center, Pitt will host its annual Maggie Dixon Heart Health Fair at noon and Blue-Gold Scrimmage at 2 p.m. The Heart Health Fair will include free blood pressure and health screenings and educational heart health displays, while fans will also have the opportunity to obtain autographs from the players and coaches from noon-1 p.m. Fans will then have the opportunity to watch the 2012-13 Blue-Gold Scrimmage beginning at 2 p.m. Head Coach Jamie Dixon will serve as color commentator alongside Jeff Hathhorn for the scrimmage's live broadcast on Pitt Panthers Television.

It is the fourth year that the Maggie Dixon Heart Health Fair will be held in Pittsburgh. Maggie Dixon, Coach Dixon's sister, was the vibrant, passionate and successful head coach of the Army Black Knights women's basketball team. In 2006, she guided her team to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Just weeks later, Maggie died suddenly due to a heart arrhythmia. She was only 28 years old.
