Here are some preseason storylines heading into the coming season:

*Pitt will play its final season in the Big East Conference. Pitt's schedule will feature home games against Connecticut, Syracuse, Notre Dame and Villanova. The year will also see the final Big East regular season contests against the likes of Georgetown, St. John's, Providence and Seton Hall. Those series have been intact for the past 30 years.

*Pitt begins its quest for an 11th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 12 seasons and its 12th straight season with 20 or more victories.

*Pitt returns three starters, two of its top four scorers, seven of its top nine letterwinners, 63 percent of its scoring, 72 percent of its rebounding and 66 percent of its minutes played.

*Pitt also welcomes a consensus top-15 nationally ranked recruiting class which includes Steven Adams, Chris Jones and James Robinson. Junior transfer Trey Zeigler, who scored 1,000 points in two seasons at Central Michigan, was also ruled eligible to compete immediately by the NCAA.

*Pitt ranks among the nation's top-5 programs in winning percentage (.758, 295-94) over the last 11 years. During that span, Pitt has made one NCAA Elite Eight appearance and five Sweet Sixteen appearances, captured six Big East titles and has advanced to 10 of the last 11 NCAA Tournaments. Combining the last 11 years, Pitt also owns a league-best 129-57 Big East regular season record.

*Jamie Dixon enters his 10th season as Pitt's head coach with a 238-77 overall record. His 238 victories rank as the fourth highest win total in NCAA Division I history after the first nine seasons as a head coach. A four-time national coach of the year recipient, Dixon is the first coach in school history to guide Pitt to eight straight NCAA Tournaments, nine consecutive 20-win seasons and eight 10-plus win years in Big East play. He also currently ranks as the winningest coach in Big East history (league games only) and is among the nation's top-7 winningest active coaches by percentage.

*Pitt will potentially play 16 games against opponents that advanced to postseason play in 2011-12, including 14 contests versus teams advancing to the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Opponents highlighting Pitt's non-conference slate include potential games against 2012 NCAA Tournament participants Lehigh (potentially on Nov. 13) and Detroit (Dec. 1), along with potential games against Kansas State, Michigan and/or Virginia in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden over Thanksgiving weekend. Pitt also plays Duquesne (Dec. 5) in the annual City Game at Consol Energy Center.
