Pitt Football Concludes Spring Drills With Blue-Gold Game (AP)

2011: Played in 10 games to letter in his first active season...contributed as an H-Back and occasional Wildcat quarterback...had nine receptions for 58 yards (6.4 avg.) and also rushed eight times for 36 yards (4.5 avg.) and a TD...his rushing touchdown (17 yards) came against Syracuse while serving as the QB in the Wildcat package...rushed six times for 36 yards against the Orange...had a season-high three catches at Iowa (for 13 yards)...had season-best 29 yards receiving (on two catches) at Rutgers.

2010: Redshirted as a true freshman.

High School: Compiled 5,311 yards in total offense and 61 touchdowns over his final two seasons at Liberty...despite missing two-plus games with a knee injury that required surgery his senior year, Gonzalez had more than 2,000 yards in total offense, rushing for 1,210 yards and 10 touchdowns, while throwing for 824 yards and 15 TDs...also was a standout safety...was selected first team All-State Class AAAA by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers in the defensive "all-purpose" category as a senior...was named the Associated Press Class AAAA Player of the Year as a junior when he rushed for 1,697 yards and 24 touchdowns, while throwing for 1,580 yards and 12 scores...also had 96 tackles and three interceptions that year...led Liberty to a 15-1 record and the PIAA Class AAAA championship his junior season...perhaps his most remarkable performance occurred in the '08 state final, when he rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns, threw for a score and also intercepted a pass in overtime to clinch Liberty's 28-21 victory over Bethel Park...The Express-Times 2008 Player of the Year... selected to play in the Big 33 Classic...SuperPrep All-American...rated the country's No. 11 quarterback by SuperPrep and No. 13 by Scout...rated the nation's No. 13 dual-threat quarterback by Rivals...rated Pennsylvania's No. 7 overall prospect by SuperPrep, No. 10 by Scout and No. 12 by Rivals...PrepStar All-East Region...played under Coach Tim Moncman...also was a standout basketball player at Liberty, earning The Express-Times All-Area first-team honors in that sport.
