2009: In his first season in a prominent role, Hutchins was selected All-Big East (second team) at placekicker and earned Pitt's Most Improved Special Teams Player award...was 23-29 in field goals (79.3%) and 46-48 on PATs (95.8%)...averaged 41.1 yards on 44 punts with a long of 54...set Pitt single-season records for kick scoring (a team-high 115 points) and field goals made...Hutchins' 115 points broke the 33-year-old record held by Carson Long, who had 99 points during Pitt's 1976 national title season...he broke the field goals made record of 20 set by Conor Lee (2008)...led Big East in overall and kick scoring (8.8 points/game), field goals (1.77 FG/game) and field goal percentage (79.3%, 23-29)...ranked fourth nationally in field goals (1.77 FG/ game) and 17th in scoring (8.85 points/game)...capped the 2009 season with a heroic performance in Pitt's 19-17 victory over North Carolina in the Meineke Car Care Bowl...kicked a Meineke Car Care Bowl-record four field goals, including the game-winning 33-yarder with 52 seconds to play...matched his career best with 13 points vs. UNC (4-5 FG, 1-1 PAT)...named the Big East Special Teams Player of the Week for his Connecticut performance (3-3 FG, 1-1 PAT, game-winning 18-yard FG as time expired; 43.0-yard punting average with two inside the 20)...also honored as the Coaching Staff Special Teams Player of the Game for the UConn contest...Coaching Staff Special Teams Player of the Game for YSU (5-5 PAT, 1-1 FG, 47.0-yard average on three punts with two inside the 20)...had career-high 13 points vs. Syracuse (3-4 FG, 4-4 PAT)...had career-high three punts downed inside the 20 vs. NC State and Notre Dame.

High School: First-team Associated Press Pennsylvania Class A All-State placekicker as a senior at Loyalsock Township High...earned all-state as a punter his junior season...four-time All-Central Susquehanna Conference...three-time All-District IV...three-time All-Lycoming County...as a senior converted 32-of-35 PATs and 4-of-5 field goals...more than 50% of his kickoffs were touchbacks...averaged 40.1 yards on 22 punts...set a Lycoming County record with 20 career field goals...also set the county record with a 46-yard field goal...in addition to his specialist duties, also contributed as a safety and wide receiver...earned all-conference at safety...played under Coach Dick Delaney...also lettered in soccer.
Personal: Daniel Robert Hutchins, born 12/4/87, is the son of Robert and Alecia Hutchins...has one brother...earned his bachelor's degree in communication...pursuing a second degree in administration of justice...served in an internship in Pitt's Athletic Media Relations Office last fall.
