Keith Malley enters his second season as a walk-on at Pitt...embodies the walk-on spirit with his blue-collar and tenacious attitude...worked at safety last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury (right) in the year's third game versus Furman...was a special teams contributor prior to that injury and had a blocked punt in the season opener versus Ohio...worked at free safety last year but will focus on Will linebacker in 2005..."Keith is dedicated to learning the Will position and, once he does, has the ability to play for us," linebackers coach Curtis Bray said. 2004: Joined Pitt as a walk-on during spring drills and went on to play in three games on special teams before suffering a season-ending right knee injury versus Furman (Sept. 25)...made a key play in the season opener versus Ohio...with the score tied 3-3 late in the first half, Malley broke through the middle of Ohio's protection to block a punt...Brian Bennett scooped up the loose ball, returning it 37 yards to the Bobcats' 2...Tim Murphy then plowed in from one yard to give the Panthers a 10-3 advantage at intermission.

High School: Helped Thomas Jefferson to a combined 21-7 record (.750) and two conference championships over his junior and senior seasons... compiled 51 receptions as a receiver and eight interceptions at defensive back during that two-year span...scored 11 total touchdowns as a senior...two-time all-conference...named MVP of the Foothills Football Classic...earned two letters in football and two in basketball...played football under former Pitt standout offensive lineman Bill Cherpak (1986-89).
