Freshman Class Makes Instant Impact

Pitt's 2011 freshman class looks ready to contribute immediately. K.K Mosley-Smith is as strong and explosive as any defensive lineman the Panthers have on their roster and will be a vital part of a lethal defensive line rotation.

One of the top receiver prospects in the state of Ohio...two-time All-Ohio Division III...first team Northeastern Inland All-District...twice named to the "Big 22," which honors the top 22 players in Ohio's Mahoning Valley...had 49 receptions for 800 yards (16.3 avg.) and 12 touchdowns as a senior...also had five interceptions and returned a fumble for a TD as a defensive back...his junior year, had 41 catches for 726 yards (17.7 avg.), intercepted three passes and scored twice on kick returns...moved to Poland, Ohio prior to his junior year...previously attended Penn Hills High (Pa.) and was a standout for the Indians as a sophomore...rated one of the top 50 prospects in Ohio by Rivals...rated one of the top 100 prospects in the Midwest region by SuperPrep...SuperPrep All-Midwest Team...played under Coach Marc Brungard.

Personal: Darius Tyrone Patton, born 5/12/93, is the son of Tinika Carter and Shawn Patton...has three brothers and one sister...father played running back at Youngstown State and was a member of the Penguins' 1994 national title team.
