2011 Scouting Report: Veteran receiver whose size, smarts and strong hands will be assets in Pitt's multiple no-huddle offensive attack...slated to start at the "Y" receiver position...a distinguished student who is a two-time honoree on the Big East All-Academic Football Team.

2010: Played in 13 games, starting 10...had 43 catches for 589 yards (13.7 avg.) and one TD on the year... averaged 20.7 yards on three catches at USF (62 total yards)...had receptions of 36 and 20 yards to key a TD drive that put Pitt up 10-3 in third period against the Bulls...had four catches for 82 yards (20.5 avg.) vs. FIU...had four catches for 64 yards (16.0 avg.) and his first career TD reception (30 yards) at Syracuse...matched career best with five catches (for 75 yards) vs. West Virginia.

2009: Played in 11 games, starting two...starting assignments came against USF and North Carolina in the Meineke Car Care Bowl...had 15 receptions for 211 yards (14.1 avg.) on the year...was a major contributor in Pitt's bowl victory over UNC with five catches for 83 yards (16.7 avg.), both career highs...on Pitt's winning field goal drive against the Tar Heels, Shanahan converted a 3rd-and-7 with a 13-yard reception, holding onto the ball after a jarring hit...the Panthers went on to kick a 33-yard field goal with 52 seconds left, providing the winning margin in the 19-17 victory...Shanahan also keyed winning field goal drive vs. Connecticut with a 29-yard catch-and-run that put Pitt at the UConn 15...the Panthers kicked an 18-yard field goal as time expired for a 24-21 win...missed opening two contests of the season due to a training camp hand fracture (left).

2008: Redshirted as a true freshman.

High School: Highly productive receiver who was named to The Associated Press Pennsylvania Class AAAA All-State Team (first team)...a Division I prospect in both football and basketball at Norwin...on the strength of an exceptional senior year, chose to pursue football in college...averaged 19.8 yards per catch with
37 receptions for 731 yards...scored 13 touchdowns...compiled more than 100 catches for 1,998 yards with 30 touchdowns for his career...as a safety, posted career statistics of 125 tackles and nine interceptions, including two picks returned for TDs...also had two punt returns for scores...caught five touchdowns in a single game vs. Gateway and also had a 98-yard TD reception vs. Pittsburgh Central Catholic...led team to the WPIAL Class AAAA playoffs each of his final two seasons...team went 7-4, advancing to the WPIAL quarterfinals his senior season...Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fabulous 22"...Pittsburgh Tribune-Review "Terrific 25"...Harrisburg Patriot-News "Platinum 33"...three-time first team All-Foothills Conference...played under Coach Dan Conwell...rated Pennsylvania's No. 16 overall prospect by Scout, No. 21 by SuperPrep, No. 24 by Keystone Recruiting and No. 37 by Rivals...rated No. 52 on Scout's East Top 100 list...PrepStar All-East Region...SuperPrep All-Northeast Team...selected to play in the Big 33 Football Classic...was a three-time section MVP in basketball...averaged 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists per game his senior year...averaged 17.5 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as a junior...Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fabulous Five" and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review "Terrific 10" honoree...was an AAU basketball teammate of former Pitt receiver Jon Baldwin, who was a 2011 NFL first-round draft choice of the Kansas City Chiefs...Honor Roll student...Letterwinners Club...Police Explorers Club.
