PITTSBURGH-- "Dessert Tasting For A Cause" invites you to a sweet, sip, serve and give weekend on April 12-13.
The fundraising weekend will benefit the charities founded by two former Pitt and NFL players: The Kris Wilson Foundation, founded by Kris Wilson, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens, and The Polite Way Foundation, started by Lousaka Polite, a graduate of Pittsburgh's Woodland Hills High School who played for the Atlanta Falcons this past season and previously the New England Patriots.
The weekend will kick off with a Pre Tasting event on Friday, April 12, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at The Smart House on Mt. Washington. The event follows the Pitt spring football game held earlier that evening at Bethel Park High School.
On Saturday, April 13, a VIP Reception will be held at Larrimor's from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by the featured main event at the Clemente Museum, housed in historic Engine House 25, located in the revitalized Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
The Kris Wilson and Polite Way foundations share a common goal: preparing the world's future leaders by increasing their motivation to learn and set goals, providing positive role models, and reinforcing the importance of literacy. This can significantly improve the educational and lifelong successes of all youth - particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. These charities serve youth living in Western Pennsylvania and nationwide.
Some of Pittsburgh's premier bakeries and restaurants are partnering up. Guests can anticipate delectable treats from Gullifty's, Dream Cream Ice Cream, The DoubleTree Hotel, Moio's Italian Pastry Shop, Sweet Sophistication, Cake Eaters Sweet Shoppe and Godiva Chocolatier. In addition a tasting of complimentary wines will create perfect pairings for the developed palate.
Featured sponsors & donors for this year's event include: University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department & Varsity Letter Club, Larrimor's, University of Pittsburgh, Pentec Health, Varischetti Holdings, 93.7 The Fan, Peoples Natural Gas, BNY Mellon, KVT Productions, Caliente Pizza & Bar and Highmark. Bill Hillgrove, Pitt's play-by-play broadcaster, will serve as emcee. The event will also feature a silent auction and live entertainment.
