BROADCAST INFO

TELEVISION: The Pitt-Virginia game will be nationally televised by ESPNU. Mike Adamle (play-by-play), David Diaz-Infante (color) and Quint Kessenich (sideline) form the broadcast crew.

PITT RADIO: FM NewsTalk 104.7 (WPGB-FM), Fox Sports Radio 970 (WBGG-AM) and the Pittsburgh ISP Sports Network. Bill Hillgrove calls the action, three-time Pitt All-American Bill Fralic provides color analysis and former Pitt offensive lineman Penny Semaia gives sideline reports.

SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO: Every Pitt football game is available via SIRIUS Satellite Radio. The Pitt-Virginia game will be on Ch. 152.

GAME STORY

Pitt opens the 2006 season under the lights at Heinz Field against Virginia. The '06 campaign marks the 117th football season in school history.

Pitt has won eight of its last nine season openers and is 24-6 in opening contests over the last 30 years.

The game will feature a pair of former NFL head coaches who are now with their respective alma maters. Pitt's Dave Wannstedt was formerly head coach of the Miami Dolphins, while Virginia's Al Groh was coach of the New York Jets.

Pitt will commemorate the 30th anniversary of its 1976 national championship by honoring the team at halftime.
