GAME STORYLINES                    

Pitt plays its first road game of the year when it travels to defending Mid-American Conference champion Buffalo. The Bulls are one of nine opponents Pitt will face in 2009 that advanced to bowl games last season.

 

This is just the second meeting ever between the two schools. The Panthers defeated the Bulls at Heinz Field last year, 27-16. Pitt is 26-3 all-time against Mid-American Conference opponents.

 

The Panthers have won six of their last seven road contests dating back to their 13-9 victory at West Virginia to close the 2007 season. Pitt was 5-1 on the road last year.

 

With its season-opening victory over Youngstown State, the Panthers have won 11 of their last 15 games.

 

BROADCAST INFORMATION

TV: The Pitt-Buffalo game will be an ESPN Plus telecast shown on WTAE-TV (channel 4) in Pittsburgh. Jim Barbar (play-by-play) and Doug Chapman (color) form the broadcast crew.

 

PITT RADIO: 3WS 94.5 (WWSW-FM), Fox Sports Radio 970 (WBGG-AM) and the Pittsburgh ISP Sports Network. Bill Hillgrove calls the action, while three-time Pitt All-American Bill Fralic and former Panther head coach Serafino "Foge" Fazio provide color analysis.

 

SATELLITE RADIO: The Pitt-Buffalo game will be aired on SIRIUS channel 122 and XM channel 102.

PITT-BUFFALO SERIES HISTORY

This is the second meeting between Pitt and Buffalo in a series that began just last season...in the inaugural encounter, the Panthers defeated Buffalo, 27-16, at Heinz Field...Pitt and the Bulls have two future meetings scheduled: 2011 (in Pittsburgh) and 2012 (in Buffalo)...the Bulls are one of nine Pitt opponents that advanced to a bowl game last season...Buffalo captured its first Mid-American Conference title last year and played in the International Bowl, where it lost to Big East member Connecticut, 38-20...the Panthers are 26-3 all-time against the MAC...Pitt's trip to Buffalo marks its first visit to a MAC school since 2005, when the Panthers dropped a 16-10 overtime decision to Ohio...the Panthers are 1-2 on the road against MAC teams.
