Panthers and Hawkeyes Meet for First Time in 56 Years

GAME STORYLINES Pitt meets the Iowa Hawkeyes for the first time in 56 years. The Panthers last played Iowa during the 1952 season. This is only the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools.
The game marks a homecoming for Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, a graduate of nearby Upper St. Clair High School and former graduate assistant on Jackie Sherrill's 1980 Pitt coaching staff.
Pitt seeks a 2-1 start for the third consecutive year and eighth time in the past 10 years.
The Panthers seek their first win over a Big Ten foe since defeating Penn State, 12-0, in 2000. In its most recent Big Ten encounter, Pitt lost to host Michigan State, 17-13, last year.
BROADCAST INFORMATION TV: The Pitt-Iowa game will be a national ESPN2 telecast. Pam Ward (play by play) and Ray Bentley (color) form the broadcast crew.
PITT RADIO: 3WS 94.5 (WWSW-FM), Fox Sports Radio 970 (WBGG-AM) and the Pitt ISP Sports Network. Bill Hillgrove calls the action, while three-time Pitt All-American Bill Fralic and former Panther head coach Serafino "Foge" Fazio provide color analysis.
