PITTSBURGH—The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that the Pitt football team’s Sept. 28 game with Virginia will kick off at 12:30 p.m. The game will be televised live and shown in Pittsburgh on ROOT SPORTS.
It will be the first ACC game between the two programs, which will play annually as members of the Coastal Division. The Panthers and Cavaliers have met just five prior times.
Before kickoff, ROOT SPORTS will air the latest episode of “ACC All-Access” beginning at noon. The show airs weekly on ROOT SPORTS as part of the network’s partnership with the Atlantic Coast Conference.
“In joining the Atlantic Coast Conference, we knew the opportunities for our program would expand tremendously,” Pitt athletic director Steve Pederson said. “The opportunity to have Pitt Athletics showcased on ROOT SPORTS is another example of that. Our reach in terms of television coverage is the greatest in our program’s history. ROOT is already partnered with two outstanding organizations in the Pirates and Penguins, and we are thrilled to join that team as we forge ahead as members of the ACC.”
“We are excited to provide Pitt Panther fans an opportunity to watch a live Pitt football game on ROOT SPORTS,” said Shawn McClintock, Senior VP and General Manager of ROOT SPORTS. “With Pitt’s move into the ACC this year, we look forward to continuing to provide fans a schedule of football, basketball and other live events as they follow the Panthers in their first season in the conference as well as other ACC teams.”
