Pitt Athletics Teams with UPMC for First Breast Cancer Awareness Football Game vs. Temple

Oct. 22, 2012

Pittsburgh, Pa. - The University of Pittsburgh Athletics Department and Pitt IMG Sports Marketing has announced it has teamed up with UPMC CancerCenter, partner with University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, for the first ever Pitt Football Breast Cancer Awareness Game when it hosts Temple University on October 27th.

Game time is set for 12:00 noon ET. Game tickets for the Breast Cancer Awareness Game are available online by visiting Pittsburghpanthers.com or by calling (800) 643-PITT (7488).

UPMC CancerCenter has teamed with Pitt Athletics to encourage regular screenings. The goal of the promotional day is to reinforce the importance of early detection.

All Pitt students attending the game will receive "Pink" Pompoms to cheer on their Pitt Panthers during the game, courtesy of both UPMC CancerCenter and fellow Panther Partner Cricket Wireless.

A unique "Pink Tailgate" will be held beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Stage AE on the North Shore. The "Pink Tailgate" will serve as a gathering place for survivors and their families to congregate, with live music courtesy of "Lava Game," as well as food & beverages.

Moreover, select survivors will form the pre-game tunnel for the Pitt Panthers to take the field as part of the festivities.

UPMC is ranked 10th among the nation's best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report and is one of Pitt Athletics founding Corporate Partners.
